It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we share the sad news that our Chief Executive, Dr Lucie Moore, has passed away.
Lucie’s death was caused by a sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest on Wednesday 20th November 2024.
Lucie was a dynamic, passionate and incredibly intelligent woman. Her commitment to advocating for survivors and victims of sexual exploitation shone through to all who met her. Lucie’s natural warmth, good humour and empathy made it easy for her to connect with others and help them understand the realities of sexual exploitation while empowering them to be part of the fight to end it.
On behalf of the staff team and the board, we all feel very privileged to have had Lucie leading CEASE for the last 14 months. It was cut short and we wish she was still at the helm but nonetheless, we remain grateful for the time we had with her.
The trustees of CEASE are working together closely to support staff at this difficult time. To ensure our work continues amidst these tragic circumstances, our Chair and founder, Naomi Miles, has been appointed as interim Chief Executive, and one of our board members, Jen Hayes, has been appointed as interim Chair. Naomi, Jen and the whole board are committed to ensuring that CEASE receives all of the support and advice needed.
Naomi said: “Lucie was a joy to know both personally and professionally. She carried a gentle, radiant light that touched all those around her. She has gifted us with a beautiful and inspiring legacy that will live on for many years to come.
“All of us at CEASE – the staff team and the trustees alike – are so grateful for everything that Lucie brought to the organisation. She will be greatly missed.”
Our love and deepest condolences go to Lucie’s family and friends.
